RideX — ride-hailing platform, rider & driver apps
A complete ride-hailing platform with rider and driver React Native apps, map-based booking, real-time trip tracking, vehicle selection, a live fare engine, and the driver-side flows to match.
The challenge
Full ride-hailing from booking to fare, one codebase
Two apps, one platform. Riders set a pickup, choose their vehicle class, and track their driver in real time. Drivers receive trip requests, navigate to pickup, and see live earnings. The fare engine calculates dynamic pricing based on distance, time, and demand. Built with React Native for iOS and Android from a single codebase.

Features
What we built
Six core capabilities that make the product what it is.
Map-based Booking
Riders set pickup and drop-off on a live map, see nearby drivers, estimated arrival time, and fare before confirming the trip.
Vehicle Selection
Multiple classes (economy, standard, premium) with real-time availability, capacity info, and per-class pricing shown upfront.
Live Trip Tracking
WebSocket-powered real-time location sharing between rider and driver, with route display and live ETA updates throughout the trip.
Fare Engine
Dynamic fare calculation based on distance, time, surge pricing, and vehicle class. Fare shown before the trip starts, locked on accept.
Driver App
Full driver-side flows: trip request notifications, accept/decline, navigation to pickup, start/end trip controls, and an earnings dashboard.
Onboarding & Auth
Phone-based auth with OTP for both riders and drivers. Driver document upload, review, and approval workflow before first trip.
Stack
Built with the right tools
No dogma about tools. We assessed what the product needed, then chose the stack that delivers fastest and stays maintainable long-term.
